Summary. A service-based website came to Zuptek Infotech after a previous agency had focused its SEO on a single main keyword. In 85 days we grew daily organic visitors from around 170 to over 1,200, close to a 7x increase, by widening the keyword set, publishing 20 articles, fixing technical errors and running a structured link-building campaign. This is an SEO case study from our team in Faridabad, India. Below is what we did, in order, and what we learned.

The problem

The site’s SEO had been handled by another agency, and the strategy was built around one main keyword. Traffic stood at around 170 organic visitors a day.

Our audit found four problems:

  1. A single-keyword strategy. The site had no content for the dozens of related questions its customers were asking. Google had little reason to see it as an authority on the topic.
  2. Technical debt. More than 50 URLs returned 404 errors, many of them linked internally. Visitors and crawlers hit dead ends.
  3. Index bloat. Category and tag archive pages with little content were indexed and competing with the pages that mattered.
  4. A thin link profile. Little in the way of links from directories, local citations or relevant industry sites.

Our approach

1. Keyword research and topical authority

We replaced the one-keyword plan with a topic map. Research surfaced 25+ related long-tail keywords and sub-topics the site had never addressed. Each was mapped to an existing page or a new article, with search intent noted. The goal was for Google to see the site as a complete resource on its subject rather than a page chasing one term. How topical authority works

2. Content development

We wrote and published 20 new informational articles, each targeting a primary long-tail keyword and a cluster of secondary terms. Each answered the question in its first paragraph and linked back to the relevant service page.

3. Technical SEO fixes

  • Fixed 50+ 404 errors and added a custom 404 page with navigation links, so lost visitors and crawlers could continue.
  • Added a noindex tag to 10+ low-value category and tag pages to stop keyword cannibalisation and concentrate crawl budget on money pages.

4. Off-page SEO

  • Foundation links: 150+ links in the first month from high-authority directories, business profiles and relevant local citations, to build a natural baseline.
  • Guest posting: 20+ articles written and pitched to niche sites; 10 accepted on independent industry blogs.
  • Brand mentions: 5 articles published on platforms such as Medium, aimed at brand-name mentions rather than links.
  • Supporting properties: A network of 25 supporting blogs and profiles targeting 100+ long-tail keywords, structured in three tiers. We note this openly: tiered link structures carry risk and we use them conservatively today. Read our current thinking in link building in India: what works.

Timeline

PeriodWork
StartAudit, keyword and topic research, content plan; baseline of around 170 organic visitors a day
First month150+ foundation links from directories, business profiles and local citations
Across the 85 daysTechnical fixes and noindex of archives, 20 articles published, guest post outreach (10 placed), 5 brand-mention articles, supporting properties built
Day 85Over 1,200 organic visitors a day

Results

Over 85 days, daily organic visitors rose from around 170 to over 1,200. The technical fixes, new content, link building and on-page work together lifted the site’s domain authority and keyword rankings, and traffic kept building month on month after the 85-day window.

What we learned

  • Breadth beats a single keyword. Twenty well-targeted articles across a topic map reached far more searches than a plan built around one head term.
  • Fix the plumbing first. Clearing 404s and removing thin archive pages from the index means new content is not competing with dead ends and duplicates.
  • Links still matter, and relevance matters most. Guest posts on independent industry blogs are the links we would keep in any plan; the tiered supporting network is the part we now use most conservatively.
