Digital marketing for salons, gyms and wellness businesses
Digital marketing for salons and gyms is a repeat-visit business dressed up as a new-customer business. A salon that loses half its first-time clients after one visit, or a gym whose January members leave by March, will never out-advertise that leak. Zuptek Infotech works with salons, unisex studios, spas, gyms, CrossFit boxes, yoga and pilates studios, nutritionists and wellness centres across India. The thing that matters most is a visible Instagram and Google Maps presence that brings people in, plus a WhatsApp system that brings them back.

How customers find a salon or gym today
Walk-in businesses are chosen on the phone within a kilometre or two of home or office.
Google Maps
“Salon near me”, “gym near me”, “ladies parlour open now”, “spa in [locality]”. The map pack shows photos, rating, price level and whether you are open. Customers rarely scroll past the first three.
This is where people decide if your place looks like somewhere they belong. Reels of transformations, trainers, interiors and client results do the selling. Location tags and local hashtags bring discovery; DMs turn into bookings.
Justdial, Sulekha and booking apps
Still used for first visits, often with a discount expectation. Aggregator apps for salons and gyms take commission and own the customer relationship.
Referrals and WhatsApp status
A client posts her new hair colour on WhatsApp status with your name tagged. A gym member shares a transformation. These cost nothing and convert better than any ad.
Facebook groups and societies
Residential society groups recommend salons, trainers and dietitians every day.

- Broadcast lists segmented by service and last visit. See email and WhatsApp marketing.
Website and online booking
- A fast site with price list, team, gallery, booking form or booking tool, and UPI payment for packages. See web development.
Reputation
- Review generation across Google and Justdial, and a complaint protocol for the inevitable bad haircut review. See online reputation management.
Compliance and industry rules
Salon and fitness marketing is lightly regulated, but a few rules apply. The ASCI Code asks for special care in ads aimed at people with a real or perceived inadequacy such as obesity, baldness or height, so claims must not go beyond what the service can actually achieve. ASCI’s guidelines also bar ads that suggest a person’s weight or physique is why they fail at work or in relationships, and they treat AI-generated or exaggerated before-and-after images as misleading; before-and-after photos should be genuine, unretouched beyond routine edits, and consented. Under ASCI’s influencer guidelines, paid posts need a clear label such as “Ad” or “Collaboration”, and since March 2025 influencers giving health or nutrition advice must state a relevant qualification, such as dietitian, nutritionist or physiotherapist. Nutrition and wellness businesses should avoid cure language for medicines or remedies: the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 bars ads suggesting a drug for any condition in its Schedule, which includes obesity. Meta restricts ads that imply negative self-perception and ads for weight loss products. Spas and massage centres should hold whatever trade licence or registration their municipality or state requires and describe services accurately. We keep claims factual and get written consent for every client photo.
A 90-day plan for a salon or gym
- Complete the Google Business Profile with services, prices, 30 photos and a review link at the counter.
- Audit and clean the Instagram profile: bio, highlights, booking link, location tag.
- First content shoot and a four-week reel calendar.
- Set up WhatsApp Business with catalogue, quick replies and labels for clients by service.
Days 31 to 60: bring people in
- Launch Meta lead ads for one offer: a gym trial week or a salon package.
- Post two reels and three stories a week; one Google Business Profile post a week.
- Start the review flow: target 20 new Google reviews in the month.
Days 61 to 90: bring them back
- Launch rebooking and renewal reminders on WhatsApp.
- Introduce a referral offer and a loyalty structure for packages.
- Review bookings by source and client retention at 60 days. Adjust content and offers.
What results look like
We track Google Maps calls and direction requests, Instagram DMs and profile visits, bookings or trials by source, and the number that matters most: second visits and renewals.
The same Google Maps method has worked for our clients in other walk-in businesses:
- Gaurav Dental and Physiotherapy Hospital: 4,898 Google Business Profile views, 690 direction requests and 274 direct calls in six months, with a 4.9 star rating maintained through a review routine. Read the case study.
- Drigo Self Drive Car Rental: 23,207 profile views and 1,114 phone calls in six months across two cities. Read the case study.
The SEO side is explained in our salon, spa and beauty parlour SEO guide.
Swingzy website by Zuptek: a WordPress and WooCommerce store for an Udaipur swing and outdoor furniture brand, with deep category menus and dealer enquiries.
Magictouch4home website by Zuptek: a WordPress and WooCommerce store for a home furnishing brand selling bed covers, curtains, cushion covers and table linen.
Carchalak website by Zuptek: a WordPress site for a driver-on-hire service, with city pages, a page per driver type, app download links and call-back forms.

Digital marketing for salons: questions people ask
Anything else? Call +91 98218 37342 or write to [email protected].
How can a salon attract more customers online?
Complete your Google Business Profile with prices and photos, post reels of real work from your own chair, and ask every happy client for a review the same day. Then use WhatsApp to bring them back before they drift to another salon.
What is the best marketing for a gym in India?
A strong Google Maps presence for “gym near me”, Instagram content featuring your trainers and members, a trial offer promoted on Meta within 4 km, and a renewal reminder system. Gyms that track retention outperform gyms that only chase January sign-ups.
How much should a salon spend on Instagram marketing?
It depends on how much content you need and whether you run ads in the wedding and festival seasons. Instagram management is quoted after a free audit, and ad spend is paid directly to Meta. The content shoot at your premises is the part worth paying for.
Do before-and-after photos work in ads?
They work, but platforms and ASCI restrict them. Use genuine, consented images, avoid implying guaranteed results, and never use body-shaming language. Meta may reject fitness before-and-after ads outright.
Should I list on salon and gym aggregator apps?
Use them for first visits if the commission makes sense, but move every customer to your own WhatsApp list. The app owns the customer relationship until you do.
Do you work with other walk-in businesses?
Yes. See our pages for restaurants and cafes and dental clinics, which share many of the same local tactics.
