Digital marketing for hospitals and healthcare providers
Hospital digital marketing has one job: making sure that when a family searches for a cardiologist, a knee replacement, an MRI at midnight or a NICU, your hospital appears with the right doctor, the right department and a number that someone answers. Zuptek Infotech, a digital marketing agency headquartered in Faridabad, works with multi-speciality hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres and speciality clinics in India, and has delivered healthcare SEO for a private practice in the UK. The thing that matters most at this scale is structure: a page for every department, every doctor and every major procedure, each one findable from Google, each one factual, and each one leading to a booking.

How patients find a hospital today
Hospital searches split by urgency and by who is searching.
Emergencies and admissions
A family member searches “hospital near me”, “24 hour emergency near me” or “ICU beds near me”. They call the first listing with a phone number and good reviews. Your Google Business Profile wins or loses this in seconds.
Planned procedures
“Knee replacement cost”, “gynaecologist near me”, “cashless hospital for [insurer]”. These searches take days. Patients compare doctor profiles, read reviews about billing and cleanliness, and ask on WhatsApp whether their insurance is accepted.
Diagnostics
“MRI near me”, “full body checkup price”, “home sample collection”. Price and turnaround decide. Labs that publish rates win.
Doctor by name
Once a doctor is recommended, the patient searches the name. If Practo or a competitor hospital outranks you for your own doctor, you lose the booking or pay a lead fee for it.
Practo, Justdial and insurer network lists are part of the picture. Instagram and YouTube matter for maternity, orthopaedic and other departments where patients want to see the facility and understand the procedure. WhatsApp handles appointment confirmation, report delivery and follow-up.
What we do for hospitals and healthcare providers
Hospital SEO and site architecture
- Department pages, procedure pages and a doctor directory built as a connected structure, with schema for Hospital, Physician and MedicalProcedure.
- Keyword mapping by department: a cardiology team and an orthopaedic team have different patients and different searches.
- Technical fixes for the slow, plugin-heavy hospital sites we usually inherit. See SEO services.
Google Business Profile for the hospital and each department
- One main profile plus department or practitioner profiles where Google allows them, each with correct categories and hours.
- Emergency number, ambulance number and insurance desk number set up so the right call reaches the right desk.
- Photos of wards, equipment, OT and reception updated monthly, with no patients identifiable. See Google Business Profile optimisation.
Website and appointment flow
- A factual doctor directory: name, recognised qualifications, specialty, registration number, OPD timings, fees and a book button.
- Health package pages with prices, inclusions and a UPI payment link.
- Insurance and TPA list kept current. Built on our web development service.
Google Ads by department
- Separate campaigns for planned, high-intent procedures such as joint replacement, cataract, bariatric surgery and health checkups.
- Call-only ads for emergency and ambulance searches, scheduled around the clock.
- Landing pages per procedure with department, fees or cost range, FAQs and no outcome claims. See Google Ads.
- We charge a fixed management fee. Our pay is never linked to individual patients or referrals.
Reputation and patient feedback
- A neutral feedback request at discharge, with no incentives, no scripted wording and no selective asking.
- A response protocol for complaints about billing, waiting time and staff behaviour, agreed with your administration, that never discloses patient details. See online reputation management.
Health content
- Doctor-reviewed articles on conditions, procedures and recovery, each linked to the relevant department and labelled with the reviewing doctor’s name, qualifications and registration number. See content marketing.
Compliance and industry rules
Healthcare marketing in India sits under several rules.
NMC Guidelines on Ethical Advertising and Public Communication
The National Medical Commission’s Ethics and Medical Registration Board issued these on 6 October 2026, read with the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 (public notice; NMC: nmc.org.in). Hospitals may publish factual, verifiable information about their name, location, contact details, departments, facilities, equipment, services, emergency services, accreditation and charges. They may not use patient solicitation, inducements, superiority claims such as “best” or “No. 1” unless independently verifiable, guarantees of cure, before-and-after photographs, or promotional portrayal of an individual doctor. Patient consent alone does not make a testimonial permissible. Fake, paid or misleading reviews are prohibited, and payments to marketing agencies may not be linked to the procurement of individual patients. A hospital website directory of its doctors’ names, qualifications, specialties, registration and availability is treated as patient information, not advertising.
Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954
It prohibits advertisements for drugs and remedies that claim to diagnose, cure, treat or prevent the diseases and conditions listed in its Schedule (India Code).
PCPNDT Act, 1994
Section 22 prohibits any advertisement, including on the internet, relating to pre-conception or pre-natal determination of sex, which affects how radiology and maternity pages are written (Himachal Pradesh Health Department summary).
We keep copy factual, attribute medical content to a named doctor, never publish testimonials or patient images in promotion, and agree a compliance checklist with your medical director before anything goes live.
A 90-day plan for a hospital
- Crawl the current website, map every department, doctor and procedure, and list missing pages.
- Audit the Google Business Profile and all duplicate or unclaimed department listings.
- Set up call tracking by department and a WhatsApp number for appointments.
- Agree the NMC compliance checklist with administration and the medical director.
Days 31 to 60: build and launch
- Publish or rewrite the doctor directory and the top 10 procedure pages.
- Launch Google Ads for two departments and call-only ads for emergency searches.
- Start the discharge feedback flow in two departments as a pilot.
Days 61 to 90: extend and report
- Add health package pages, insurance pages and 6 doctor-reviewed articles.
- Extend the feedback flow to all departments.
- First quarterly report: calls, bookings and admissions by source and department.

How do hospitals do digital marketing in India?
Most hospitals that get it right do four things: a complete Google Business Profile with department numbers, a factual doctor directory and a page for every procedure they offer, factual search ads for planned procedures, and a neutral feedback flow at discharge. Content and social media come after that, and everything stays within the NMC’s advertising guidelines.
What marketing works for a small hospital or nursing home?
Own your locality on Google Maps first. A nursing home with a complete profile, accurate departments and steady genuine reviews can appear above a large hospital for searches like “maternity hospital near me”. Then build pages for your top five procedures.
Can doctors and hospitals run Google Ads in India?
Hospitals can, within limits. Under the NMC’s October 2026 guidelines, hospital communication must be factual and verifiable, and individual doctors may not engage third parties to market their services. Google’s Healthcare and medicines policy adds its own rules: prescription drugs cannot be promoted in India, and online pharmacies need certification. We write ads that pass both.
How do we handle negative reviews about billing or staff?
Respond within 24 hours, acknowledge the issue without disclosing any patient information, take the conversation to a phone call or email, and fix the process behind it. Never argue in public and never ask for a review to be removed unless it breaks Google’s policy.
How much does hospital SEO cost?
It depends on the number of departments, doctors and locations. Our Business SEO plans for hospitals are Rs 19,999 per month (Gold) and Rs 34,999 per month (Premium). Hospital groups with several locations get a custom quote after a free audit.
Do you also work with dental clinics and single-doctor practices?
Yes, for dental clinics, which usually need a local plan rather than a hospital plan. See our dental clinics page. Individual registered medical practitioners should note that the NMC guidelines bar them from engaging third parties to market their professional services.
