Google Ads Cost in India: CPC Benchmarks & Budgets

Google Ads cost in India is set by an auction, so there is no single price per click. Google sets no minimum spend (Google Ads), you choose an average daily budget, and you pay when someone clicks a Search ad. Your total cost is the ad spend paid to Google, GST on that spend, and a management fee if an agency runs the account.

Cost per click varies so much because you bid against every other advertiser who wants the same search in the same city at the same moment, and the price depends on how many of them there are and how good your ads and landing pages are. This guide explains how pricing works, which industries pay the most, how agencies charge, how GST and billing work, and gives you a formula to estimate a budget from your own keyword data before you spend a rupee. Our management service is described on the Google Ads management page.

Key takeaways

  • Search CPCs in India vary widely by industry and city. Real estate, finance, insurance and legal services in metro cities are among the most expensive; local retail and many home services are among the cheapest.
  • Cost per lead is the number that matters, and it usually falls as negative keywords, ad copy and landing pages improve.
  • Agencies charge a flat fee, a percentage of spend, or a mix. Flat fees suit smaller budgets.
  • GST applies to Google Ads purchases in India. GST-registered businesses add their GSTIN and can usually claim it as input credit.
  • Budget formula: leads you want, divided by landing page conversion rate, multiplied by CPC. Then add a margin for learning.

How Google Ads pricing works

You only pay when someone clicks. The amount depends on your bid, your Quality Score (expected click-through rate, ad relevance, landing page experience) and what competitors bid. A high Quality Score lets you pay less than a competitor for a higher position. You set an average daily budget. Google may spend up to twice it on a busy day, and over a month you are not charged more than 30.4 times the daily figure (Google Ads Help).

CPC varies by network. Search ads usually cost the most per click because intent is highest. Display banners usually cost less per click, and YouTube ads are often bought per view. Performance Max blends all of them.

Google does not publish CPC averages for India by industry, and we do not quote invented ones. The table ranks common categories by how expensive Search clicks tend to be relative to each other, with the reasons. To get rupee figures for your own business, open Keyword Planner, select your city, and look at the top-of-page bid ranges for your keywords. Metro cities usually sit at the upper end; tier 2 cities sit lower.

IndustryRelative Search CPCWhat drives it
Real estate (projects, brokers) in metro citiesVery highHigh deal value, many advertisers
Legal, CA, finance, insuranceVery highLoan and insurance terms are among the most contested
Healthcare, clinics, hospitalsHighHair transplant, IVF and dental implants are the most competitive
B2B, industrial, manufacturingModerate to highLower volume, higher order value
Education, coaching, admissionsModeratePeaks in admission season
Home services (interiors, AC repair, pest control, packers)ModerateStrong call-only performance
Travel, hotels, toursLow to moderateSeasonal
Ecommerce (Shopping campaigns)Low to moderateMeasured as return on ad spend rather than cost per lead
Salons, gyms, local retail, restaurantsLowOften cheaper through Google Business Profile

Use this as a sanity check, then build your budget from Keyword Planner data for your own keywords and city. Planner figures are estimates; a well-run account with good Quality Score often pays less than the planner suggests.

Fee modelHow it worksWorks best when
Flat monthly feeFixed fee for an agreed scopeSmaller budgets; you want predictable costs
Percentage of spendFee is a share of ad spendLarger budgets where the fee should scale with work
Hybrid (flat plus percentage)Base fee plus a smaller share of spendMid-size accounts
Per leadFee for each lead deliveredRare; watch for lead quality and inflated counts
One-time setupAccount build, tracking and first campaignsNew accounts; sometimes waived on longer engagements

Zuptek quotes Google Ads management as a fixed fee after reviewing your account, goals and expected spend. Percentage models reward agencies for spending more, which is not always what you want.

GST and billing

GST applies to Google Ads purchases in India, at 18%, either on Google’s invoice or, depending on which Google entity bills you, under reverse charge (Google Ads Help: taxes in India). If your business is GST-registered, add your GSTIN in the payments profile and claim the GST as input credit. Payment methods available in India include UPI, net banking, cards and bank transfer; monthly invoicing is available to eligible larger accounts. Your agency’s management fee is a separate invoice, with GST added if the agency is registered. Always pay Google directly from your own account rather than routing ad spend through the agency, so you keep the account history and the input credit.

How to estimate your Google Ads budget

Work backwards from leads. The numbers below are an illustration; replace them with your own.

  1. Decide how many leads you need a month. Say 40.
  2. Estimate your landing page conversion rate: the share of clicks that become calls, forms or WhatsApp messages. If you have no history, start with an assumption and correct it after the first month. Say 7%.
  3. Divide: 40 ÷ 0.07 = 571 clicks.
  4. Multiply by your CPC from Keyword Planner. At Rs 45: 571 × 45 = Rs 25,700.
  5. Add a margin, for example 20%, for the learning period and testing: about Rs 31,000 a month in ad spend.
  6. Add the management fee and GST.

Run the same sum for an industry with a much higher CPC and a lower conversion rate, and the budget for the same 40 leads can be several times larger. That is why your own keyword data matters more than any average. If the number is beyond your budget, read our guide to the minimum Google Ads budget that works in India before cutting it blindly.

Costs that sit outside the Google invoice

  • Landing page. Ads sent to a slow, generic home page usually convert worse than a dedicated page for the offer. Our web team builds landing pages; estimate the cost with the website cost calculator.
  • Conversion tracking. Calls, WhatsApp clicks and form fills must be tracked or the account optimises blind. Budget a few hours of setup.
  • Creative. Images and short videos for Performance Max and YouTube.
  • Call handling. Leads that ring unanswered are the most expensive leads of all.

How to bring your CPC down

  • Add negative keywords weekly. Jobs, salary, course, free, PDF and “meaning” searches waste money in many untouched Indian accounts.
  • Tighten location targeting to the sectors and cities you serve, and use “presence” rather than “presence or interest”.
  • Schedule ads for the hours your phone is answered.
  • Use phrase and exact match for core services; leave broad match for well-tracked accounts with smart bidding.
  • Write ads that mention your city, price point or offer. Higher click-through rate raises Quality Score and lowers CPC.
  • Send each ad group to a matching landing page.

Compared with SEO, paid clicks never get cheaper on their own; see our SEO cost guide for the long-term alternative that most businesses should run alongside.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Google Ads cost per day in India?

There is no minimum; you set the average daily budget yourself. In practice the useful daily budget is the one that buys enough clicks in your category for the account to learn and for you to judge results, which you can estimate from Keyword Planner CPCs for your city.

What is the average CPC in India?

There is no meaningful single average, and Google does not publish one by industry. CPC depends on the keyword, city, competition and your Quality Score. Real estate, loans, insurance and legal services in metro cities are among the most expensive; local retail and many home services are among the cheapest. Check Keyword Planner for your own terms.

How much do agencies charge for Google Ads management in India?

Agencies use a flat monthly fee, a percentage of ad spend, or a mix, sometimes with a one-time setup fee. Small accounts usually do better on flat fees. Compare quotes by what is done each month, not just the fee.

Is GST charged on Google Ads in India?

Yes. GST at 18% applies to Google Ads purchases in India, charged on the invoice or paid under reverse charge depending on the billing entity. A registered agency also adds GST to its management fee. GST-registered businesses can usually claim both as input credit.

Is Rs 500 per day enough for Google Ads?

It depends on your CPC. Divide Rs 500 by the CPC for your main keywords to see how many clicks a day it buys, then apply your conversion rate. In low-CPC local categories it can be a workable start; in categories such as real estate or finance in metro cities it buys very few clicks.

Why is my cost per click so high?

Usually a mix of broad match keywords pulling irrelevant searches, low Quality Score from generic ads and a slow landing page, bidding on competitor brands, or targeting too wide an area. An account review usually finds spend that can be cut without losing leads.
